Broadband high speed Internet is surrounded by myths and fiction. It is interesting because even when you take away the untruths and stories, it is still something worth talking about. Even when people are aware of the real limits and possibilities of modern Internet technologies, the buzz will continue to be about broadband.
One of the myths regarding high speed Internet is that it is faster than lightening and a speeding bullet combined. While this is not entirely true, it comes close to fact. Compare broadband to dialup and you’ll see. Transmission rates span the market from 1.544 Mbit/s to 159. 2 Gbit/s. For gamers and people who rely on the Internet for more than visiting chat rooms, these numbers are good, especially the ones on the upper end. This gives them the speed that is an essential part of gaming.
Another untruth about high speed Internet is that it is only available in larger metropolitan areas. This couldn’t be further from the truth. With the technologies available today, broadband is available across the world, in cities, suburbs and rural communities. This isn’t to say there is no place high speed can’t go, but with innovative practices and creative technicians, broadband is available to many. Broadband providers can now use remote towers and other mounting sites traditional cable standards couldn’t utilize. Technology delivers high speed Internet wherever you want it, almost.
